UNISUS International School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-centered Student Residence Coordinator to join our Boarding and Student Life Team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students from around the world while living and working on our beautiful 17-acre campus in the South Okanagan Valley.

As a live-in member of our Student Life Team, you will help create a safe, supportive, and engaging boarding environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

About the Role

The Student Residence Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the daily life of boarding students through supervision, pastoral care, student engagement, and experiential learning opportunities. The successful candidate will help foster a positive residential culture while building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

This is a live-in position that combines mentorship, student support, programming, and leadership within a dynamic boarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and daily care of boarding students
  • Serve as a designated Pod Leader for approximately 8–12 students
  • Act as a primary contact for assigned students and families
  • Support student wellbeing, behaviour management, and restorative practices
  • Plan and lead evening, weekend, and residential programming
  • Organize and supervise excursions, outdoor activities, and community events
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation
  • Support student onboarding, transitions, and community-building initiatives
  • Assist with transportation, student services, and operational portfolios as assigned
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive boarding culture aligned with UNISUS values and the IB philosophy
Qualifications
  • Experience working with youth in boarding schools, residential programs, camps, education, recreation, or similar environments
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • A student-centered approach with a genuine commitment to mentorship and wellbeing
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to remain calm, confident, and professional in dynamic situations
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Mental Health First Aid or similar qualification, youth specific training preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Education, Youth Work, Recreation, Student Affairs, or a related field is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in more than one language preferred (especially Mandarin or Spanish)

Driving Requirements
  • Valid Class 4 BC Driver's License (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
  • Clean driving record
  • Comfortable transporting students in school vehicles
  • Ability to drive in varying weather and road conditions
Working Conditions

This is a full-time live-in residential position requiring flexibility to work a rotating schedule that includes evenings, weekends, overnight on-call duties, and statutory holidays.

The role involves active participation in outdoor and recreational activities, including hiking, skiing, swimming, kayaking, biking, and team sports. Candidates should be comfortable working in a highly engaged, student-focused environment and supporting adolescents in both structured and informal settings.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $45,000 – $49,000 per year (term contract), based on qualifications and experience.
